Day 52-Saint Louis MO to Vandalia IL

It was a very interesting day on the road today for sure. But to start it off we had a great breakfast with yogurt, tons of fresh fruit, juice and donuts, very delicious. Because the Mississippi River is 15 feet higher than normal our route out of the city was partially under water so we had to rack in the morning a few miles down the road to get on the section of bike path that was rideable. Like I have said, I love riding on bike paths, so much smoother, no cars and usually not crowded at all. This one was fun, it went right along the Mississippi River which was not as scenic as I expected but still very cool. All the cyclists stayed pretty close on the path so we were having fun hanging out. Eventually we came to the next crew van at the start of a bridge over the Mississippi River. It was exactly a mile long bridge from the Missouri side to the IL side with the state sign right in the middle, it was awesome.
We arrived at lodging and relaxed for a while until we had people from FayCo come to The Y where we are staying for a friendship vist, we played games and hung out for a while. They had boccia ball outside and we were playing soccer and basketball inside for a while. I talked to Lillian and Clarisa for a while who got tired of the games pretty quick so we sat inside and talked, they were really fun. Finally we ate pizza which they were really looking forward to.
After they left we went to go check out the well known Vandalia attraction, a fire breathing metal dragon and white night. I didn't catch the dragon's name but we were tokd the night was recently built and named sir fix a lot. It was definitely the first I have ever seen. It was pretty funny, probably the coolest thing Vandalia has to offer.
We just went back to lodging after that and I packed up and prepared for tomorrow.
