Day 57-Indianapolis IN to Cincinnati OH

To get to a safer place to ride we racked our bikes in the morning and drove to a Mcdonalds to meet a Pi Kapp alumni who was sponsoring our breakfast which was so good, he had bagels, cereal, naked juices pastries and coffee. We all thought it was going to be Mcdonalds so it was a great surprise that it wasn't. The ride today was pretty fun, I was in the van with Evan, Scott, David, Buddy, Ruby, and Brentley, ot was a stacked van, we had way to much fun on the ride. The first crew stop we happened to stop in a small town across the street from a garage sale, we checked it out and a bunch of guys got really nice football jerseys for super cheap, as in $100-150 jerseys for $40 and in good condition. Bott was on the bike but saw one he wanted so he gave me cash to buy it for him so he could keep riding and I just wore it the rest of the day, half our van was in football jerseys the rest of the day. At another little down later on we took a quick bathroom break at Walmart and somehow we got the two crew in our van, Ruby and Buddy to agree to do the gallon challenge if we bought the milk. We got 4 half gallon containers of whole milk amd took off in the van to the next crew stop to start the challenge. If you don't know what the gallon challenge is, they have to finish a gallon of milk within an hour and hold it down. Our crew stop ended up being the crew chief lunch stop too so everyone got to witness the end of the challenge which didn't go well for either of them, they couldn't hold the milk down. Buddy and Ruby were both dead the rest of the ride so all the cyclists basically ran the crew van until lodging.
Our crew chief, Zack, was on the bike today and despite having a tough rack time he was pushing hard all day, by lunch they averaged 18.1 mph, the last bit of the ride was a lot more difficult terrain but they still were ahead of the pack. Right before we got to lodging there was a really long pretty steep hill, when we passed Zack and his pace line they looked so dead but I was really happy that he got to finish the ride to his home town. Only the sweeps were racked and they were really close behind the last pace line.
Our lodging is at the Cincinnati Recreation Complex right on the Ohio River. It is a strange area, the riverfront road alternates from really run down to amazing apartments and houses. Our friendship visit was at lodging with the Special Olympics Goal Ball team. We only got to meet one of the team members, Mike, and the coach, Brendan, but they gave us a quick demo of the game and then we went out there and played. It was such a fun game to play, everyone wears blacked out goggles so it is a completely even play field for all levels of vision. The game is played with a special ball similar to a basketball but with less bounce and bells inside so you can hear it coming. Teams alternate trying to roll it across the other teams goal line and you habe to dive to the sides to stop the ball. It was a blast, I played with Ruby and Matt and won in a shut own victory 4 to 0. After everyone played a game they provided dinner which was insane, 50 large pizzas between the 35 ish people, plus salad and cookies, so much leftover.
After dinner we got our mail, I got a package of snacks from my parents that they warned me about and Emily surprised me with a letter which meant so much to me, I really loved it. We also got Puder back too! He left for a few days to spend time with his family when his grandpa past away, it was awesome to see him walk in, everyone went crazy. We had a pretty quick leadership development meeting then watched Band of Brothers until the wifi suddenly turned off at 10 so we just went to bed. I realized I have gotten used to sleeping in any situation like a gym with lights we can't turn off, it was fully lit all night and I still had no problem falling asleep.
Tomorrow is 95 miles to Lexington Kentucky, yes another state down, Ohio was a short visit and we have a day off in Lexington, I'm told we are heading into beautiful horse country according to Randy who is from Kentucky so it should be a good ride. I am already planning ride with Scott, Evan, and Stassi again, those guys are just too funny.
